A Light Through the Night

'…we arrived and watched an avant-garde dance in which women with the long gowns and opiated stares of Edgar Allan Poe heroines performed with a series of household lamps (…) Dreamlike as well as surreal, it suggested the sort of obsession that strikes in the small hours.'
The Guardian

As lamps collected from Hollingdean homes gather at Coachwerks, The Karavan Ensemble invites you into a nocturnal journey through visual imagery, intimate encounters and absurd realities, inspired by these lights and their stories.
Starting with a bus journey from the centre of town, this site specific composition of live performance & installation is illuminated only by these orphan lamps and lights, and creates a new inner landscape for the White Night at Coachwerks.

Performances: Saturday 30 Oct 2010
Created for and performed on White Night Brighton

Supported by: Brighton and Hove City Council and Coachwerks
